Joseph and Colette Discuss Nagayo & Kansai vs. Masami & Ozaki
GAEA

GAEA Month is here, which means its time for some real goddamn pro wrestling, babyyyyyyy. This week, Joseph and I tackled the main event of GAEA's debut show, Chigusa Nagayo & Dynamite Kansai vs. Devil Masami vs. Mayumi Ozaki in a wild, bloody brawl that ends in a completely ruined ring, our hero tasting bitter defeat in establishing her home turf. It's incredible stuff, and as I say in this conversation, it may not be my favorite match of the block. That match is, in fact ...

Up Next: Mayumi Ozaki, one of the great tag team wrestlers of all time, teams up with Aja Kong, one of the great wrestlers of all time, to bully the upstart sensations Meiko Satomura and Sonoko Kato in what might just be the best underdog match of the 1990s. Maybe. MAYBE. We'll find out!

After driving Colette into a dark knight of the soul and rehashing my own disdain for the modern STARDOM style, we thought it'd probably be best to watch some real goddamned pro wrestling. And that brings us to GAEA month, a scan of one of my favorite promotions of all time (a distinction it's only earned in the last 12 months or so). This week, we came at it via the first ever main event, a tag team street fight that thrilled Colette and I both on stream. Colette, did I successfully redeem women's wrestling in your eyes?

lmaooooo — you know I'm a true believer at heart, Joseph, but we've long joked about how women's wrestling has gotten short shrift on BIG EGG — I picked the wrong AJW match once, SHIMMER month, at least what we chose of it, felt like a lot of matches that worked better in their context than they did in isolation — we've watched a lot of good women's wrestling, but not a lot of great women's wrestling. Frankly, I kinda needed this. Felt good to be blown away by the great sport of professional wrestling again. And this may not even be the best match we're watching this month. I forgive you, big hoss.
