Joseph and Colette Discuss Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels
Gather round as Colette explains her former life as a Fedpilled loser to Joseph.
Happy New Year! Let’s kick things off by delving back into the BIG EGG MASTERLIST, where Joseph and I scientifically determine the place of each wrestling match we cover together. This month of coverage is a potentially contentious one, as it’s us confronting four of our more contrarian takes. Because I chose the older matches this month, we’re starting with mine — the Unbreakable Three Way and Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker from WrestleMania 25, with the match that may stand as the very soul of Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling kicking things off. I’ve told a little bit of the tale of how I came to the conclusion that this match fuckin’ stunk in both my essay on the match and in the extra EXTRA BIG EGG column on a WWE Intercontinental Championship three way from 2006, but the following convo plumbs deeper into those incredibly murky waters. Yes, I gave Joe/Styles/Daniels ** & 1/2 stars in 2007, but people are capable of change — I was also a dude in 2007, and that ain’t the case anymore either. Let’s go!
Up Next: Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker from WrestleMania 25. Initially I thought what I was remembering was WrestleMania 26, but as we discovered on Joseph’s Twitch stream, I really wanted the one where Shawn Michaels dressed up like an Angel from Heaven if angels from heaven dressed like Mordecai from WWE SmackDown. Also, for paid subscribers, an EXTRA BIG EGG essay about Christopher Daniels vs. El Generico, and a poll about which Undertaker match I’ll be watching, joy of joys!

So, for my half of Hot Takes Month, we're tackling a pair of matches that I've held a beef against despite their being held up by many as classics. My long-held opinions on this match in particular can be traced back to my forum days, which I got into on stream and in my essay, but I'm curious about your own history with the Unbreakable Three Way. Have you always been as hype about it as you were when we watched it on Twitch? Were you swerving me with your impassioned praise of Christopher Daniels?

I am simple enough to have loved this from the first moment I saw it. It's about as mindblowing on that first watch as it was always meant to be: this real purposeful display of everything these three can do in a major setting with all those advantages afforded to them. I can't recall the exact time I first saw it, probably around the same time I got into the indies, around 2009, or maybe even earlier than that, but it had the intended effect and basically always has every time I return to it.
