Joseph and Colette Discuss Jon Moxley vs. Jimmy Jacobs

Joseph and Colette come to blows over an I Quit match, but without a microphone how will you know who wins?

Joseph and Colette Discuss Jon Moxley vs. Jimmy Jacobs
DGUSA

The moment I published my piece on the DGUSA I Quit match between Jimmy Jacobs and Jon Moxley, I knew Joseph and I were going to wind up with two drastically different takes, and that's exactly what happened. He loved it, I liked it, and while that's not exactly outside of the norm for critics of any medium, given the nature of BIG EGG as a project, it is somewhat rare for us to disagree to the point that the first sentence of an essay would be a shot back at another piece. Joseph's usually pretty good at talking me into the room on his position — is this going to be another one of those times? Will the BIG EGG MASTERLIST ever really reveal a critical consensus between the two of us, or will it remain a gnarled wreck of undisputed classics, great matches, good matches, and Triple H matches? Only time will tell!

BIG EGG & ELSEWHERE

  • I'm continuing to noodle around with the bonus features I produce on BIG EGG. Both MASTERLISTS, this one and the WCW MONDAY NITRO MASTERLIST, will continue, but the EXTRA BIG EGG essay series is going to be mutating into something else as soon as I figure out the shape of it. There will be a post about the change when that happens. It should be fun, though! Also, I'll be posting a very long piece about my 2026 Greatest Wrestler Ever ballot within the next week.
  • The WCW MONDAY NITRO MASTERLIST project rolls on, this time looking at four matches from 2/5/96 and World Championship Wrestling's fondness for 30something women in evening dresses. A lot of people on the internet felt seen by this, but there's also some good bits in there about Randy Savage's drive in WCW, when Chris Benoit's drive to cave his own head in worked to the benefit of matches as opposed to the detriment of the industry, and Dave Meltzer giving Flair/Bagwell *** & 1/2 stars.
  • I did an episode of Worn Out Tapes about two L.A. Park vs. Rush matches. During the course of recording this podcast, I not only discovered that an L.A. Park vs. The Sandman match took place, but I found the footage. More on that soon.

UP NEXT

With the indies in our rearview for the moment, Joseph and I are journeying to the land where the big boys play — it's WCW Month at BIG EGG! We're covering some high peaks from the company: a WCW World Heavyweight Championship superfight, a Cruiserweight gem, the last real WarGames match, and a peak tag team feud. That last one, The Hollywood Blondes vs. Ricky Steamboat and Shane Douglas, is how we're kicking things off.

Yo what the fuck?

Jimmy Jacobs Faces Jon Moxley in the Mirror
This match doesn’t need a microphone. Watching it back now in 2026, one can’t help but draw parallels between this and the other times that Jon Moxley has had to deal with a smaller goth with a proclivity for blood and bound hands. Just as Moxley filled his matches with

Three and a half stars is good, dude.
